Overseas Exchanges

The following information is for Academy students wishing to study abroad. Students from overseas institutions wishing to study at the Academy can find the relevant information here.

The Australian Academy of Design has formalised exchange agreements with several international degree awarding institutions that specialise in creative education. These agreements enable staff and students to work or study at the international institution for a semester.

These agreements have been formalised with:

BAU Escola Superior de Disseny, Barcelona, Spain
Istituto Europeo di Design (I.E.D.) Barcelona, Spain
ESDi Escola Superior de Disseny, Barcelona, Spain
Istituto Europeo di Design (I.E.D.) Milan, Italy
Politecnico di Milano, Italy (Graduate program only)
Istituto Superiore di Design Napoli, Italy*
Utrecht School of Art, Netherlands
Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands
Northumbria University, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK
Parsons Paris School of Design, Paris, France*
University of Creative Arts, London, UK

Similar agreements are being discussed at leading art and design institutions in Denmark, Sweden, UK and USA that will enable Academy students to study abroad for credit.

If students follow an approved program of study this semester is credited in their course of studies at the Academy so that they not only have the benefit of working for a semester in another culture, they do not lose time in their studies in Australia. The student’s tuition fees at the Academy cover the tuition fees at the host institution.

Further information about the application procedure is available in the online student manual.

* Students applying to Parsons Paris or ISD Naples will be required to pay additional fees charged by those institutions.
