Public Art
The Australian Academy of Design intends to develop a collection of public art works of its own. The collection consists of works donated to the Academy – donations and gifts to the Academy are fully tax deductible.
The Academy will also exhibit public art on-loan from sculptors. The first work of art on-loan is a sculpture by Roman Liebach titled “Green Pipes” – it is on display in the Academy sculpture garden on the corner of Ingles and Woodruff Streets, Port Melbourne. Inquiries regarding purchase of the work should be made to Malcolm Thomson, Gallery Director at:
gallery@designacademy.edu.au or Phone on 03 9676 9000.
The Academy has also been recognised with a sculpture design gifted by the Clement Meadmore Foundation in New York. “Dervish”, an example of Meadmore’s sculpture can be viewed at Southbank in Melbourne. The Academy work, titled “Split Ring” will be installed at the entrance to the Academy when it is fabricated – funding is being sought for its fabrication at present. Inquiries about tax-deductible gifts for the fabrication of the sculpture may be directed to Malcolm Thomson, Gallery Manager at:
gallery@designacademy.edu.au or Phone on 03 9676 9000.
