Frequently Asked Questions
If I have studied a related course at another institution, can I transfer to the Academy Degree?
Yes. See recognition of prior learning and credit transfer and mutual recognition.
Is the Academy and its courses recognised by the Government?
Yes. The Academy is an Approved Higher Education Provider and a Registered Training Organisation and is on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). The Australian Academy of Design conducts nationally accredited courses.
How large are the classes?
The Academy was established largely to provide an alternative to university education where large classes are common. Class sizes at the Academy are usually 16 students and occasionally one or two part-time students are added to the class.
Do students who transfer from other institutions get credit at the Academy?
All tertiary institutions are required to recognise completed studies at other registered institutions for credit. Where the units of study completed at other institutions match or are equivalent to units in the Bachelor of Design Arts credit is granted.
